Buy online
Choose the right Vaporetto ticket – from a 75-minute single ticket to a 7-day pass. Book conveniently online in advance and skip the queues at the machines during high season. After purchase, you'll receive a voucher with QR code via email, which you can simply save on your smartphone.
Collect ticket
With the voucher, collect your physical ACTV ticket at a machine or Venezia Unica counter – for example directly at Piazzale Roma, at Santa Lucia main station, or at major Vaporetto stops like San Marco or Rialto.
Validate ticket
The ticket is only activated upon first use. Hold it to the card reader at the entrance of the stop before boarding – the selected validity period starts from this validation. A 24-hour ticket validated at 2:00 PM is valid until 2:00 PM the next day.
Experience Venice
Explore Venice and the lagoon unlimited: all Vaporetto lines on the Grand Canal, water buses to Murano, Burano and Lido as well as city buses in Mestre and on Lido. Simply hold your ticket to the scanner when boarding – done.

The ticket is only activated when first used, not when purchased. As soon as you hold it against the card reader at the pier when boarding, the validity period begins. From this moment, your chosen time period (75 minutes, 24, 48 or 72 hours, or 7 days) starts running. You can therefore buy tickets online in advance without any problems and only activate them when you really need them.
You can buy Vaporetto tickets at the machines at every major pier, at ACTV and Venezia Unica counters (e.g., at Santa Lucia main station, Piazzale Roma and St. Mark's Square) or conveniently online in advance. When buying online, you get a voucher with QR code on your smartphone and avoid the queues at the machines – particularly recommended during high season.
If you take the Vaporetto more than twice per day; you start saving from the third trip onwards. It's particularly worthwhile if you want to travel the Grand Canal in one day and additionally visit the lagoon islands Murano or Burano. For longer stays, the 48-, 72- or 7-day tickets are almost always cheaper than individual trips.
Yes! The famous Line 1, which slowly travels the entire Grand Canal and stops at every station, is included in every Vaporetto ticket. You can also use the Express Line 2 with the same ticket. A trip on Line 1 from the main station to St. Mark's Square takes about 45 minutes and is probably Europe's most beautiful "bus tour" – almost like an inexpensive city tour.
Children up to and including 5 years travel free. From their 6th birthday, however, children pay the full adult price – unfortunately there is no classic children's discount in the Vaporetto system. Wheelchair users pay a reduced fare of €1.50, their accompanying person travels free.
Yes, with the Vaporetto day ticket you can get to Murano, Burano, Torcello and Lido – all islands belong to the city area and are included in the ticket. Note: Marco Polo Airport is not included. For that you need a separate Alilaguna ticket, as the airport water bus is operated by a different company.
