What Rolling Venice is

Rolling Venice is a youth card for travellers between 6 and 29. On the water it does one thing: it unlocks a reduced 72-hour ticket for the whole ACTV network, at €27 instead of €45. The reduced ticket can only be bought together with the card, so a traveller who does not yet hold one pays €6 for the card on top.

The card also brings discounts at participating shops, cultural sites and museums in the city.

With the card paid for, Rolling Venice saves €12 on three days.

The honest saving is €12: €45 for the standard ticket against €33 for card and ticket. The gap of €18 between €45 and €27 leaves out the €6 card, which the reduced ticket always comes with.

When it pays off

Against single rides at €9.50 for 75 minutes, the €33 package pays off from the fourth ride. Three rides cost €28.50 bought singly; four cost €38. Three days in Venice reach four rides on the first afternoon.

It also beats the shorter passes. For two days the 48-hour ticket costs €35, so even a weekend is cheaper with Rolling Venice at €33. Only for a single day does the 24-hour ticket at €25 come out ahead. For a week the seven-day ticket at €65 remains the standard choice. All durations side by side are on vaporetto tickets and passes.

Where to buy it

The card and the reduced ticket are sold at the Venezia Unica ticket offices, the staffed counters at Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia station among them. The package of card and 72-hour ticket is also sold online on the Venezia Unica website. The reduced ticket is not sold on its own: it always goes with the card.

The booking box on this page sells the standard tickets, not the Rolling Venice fare. It is the right buy for travellers from 30 and for anyone who needs a 24-hour or seven-day ticket instead of three days.

How it differs from the standard 72-hour ticket

On the water nothing changes. The Rolling Venice ticket runs for 72 hours from its first validation, covers the same network, from the Grand Canal to Murano, Burano and the Lido, and the same buses on the Lido and the mainland. It has the same gaps too: no journeys to or from Marco Polo Airport and no Alilaguna boats. Validate it at the reader before every boarding, as any other ticket. The standard version is described on 72-hour ticket.

  • €12 cheaper than the standard 72-hour ticket, card included
  • Cheaper than the 48-hour ticket for a two-day stay
  • The same network, the Lido and the islands included
  • The Aerobus supplement can be added
  • Discounts at participating shops, cultural sites and museums
  • Only for travellers between 6 and 29
  • Only at the Venezia Unica ticket offices or as a package online
  • The reduced fare comes as a 72-hour ticket only
  • Not valid to or from Marco Polo Airport

Families and mixed groups

In a family each traveller pays by age. Children under 6 travel free and need no ticket. From 6 to 29 Rolling Venice applies, from 30 the standard fare. Two parents with two teenagers pay €90 for their own two 72-hour tickets and €66 for the two Rolling Venice packages, €156 in all instead of €180 for four standard tickets.
