Vaporetto prices at a glance

The ACTV fare system has no distance pricing. You always buy a duration, and within that time you ride the whole urban network as often as you like. That applies to the Grand Canal lines just as much as to the boats out to Murano, Burano, Torcello and the Lido.

All prices are per person.

When a timed pass pays off

The threshold sits at three rides a day. A typical first day in Venice looks like this: from Santa Lucia station down the Grand Canal on line 1 to St Mark's, out from Fondamente Nove to Murano in the afternoon, back to the hotel in the evening. That is three rides, and the day pass is already the cheaper choice.

If you only make one trip from the station to your accommodation and walk the rest, the 75-minute ticket is the better buy. Venice is compact, and plenty of routes are quicker on foot than on the water.

Over a longer stay the gap widens: the 7-day pass costs less than three day passes and covers a full week. As soon as you stay two days or more and want to see the islands, the right duration is almost always cheaper than single rides.

What the fare covers

Every duration covers the same network:

• The Grand Canal lines, including line 1 calling at every stop and the faster line 2
• The lagoon islands Murano, Burano, Torcello and the Lido, all inside the urban fare zone
• The circular lines around the old city, plus the buses in Mestre and on the Lido
• Unlimited connections within your chosen duration, with a fresh validation each time you board

What the fare does not cover

Three things are deliberately excluded, and they are exactly where most travel plans come unstuck:

• Marco Polo Airport. No timed ACTV ticket covers the airport. The Alilaguna boats belong to a separate company and cost €18 one way; the ATVO express bus costs €10 and the ACTV Aerobus line 5 costs €10, or €7 as a supplement bought together with a timed ticket; a water taxi runs on the official fixed fare of €110 plus surcharges. Every way in, with journey times and where to board, is on Marco Polo Airport to Venice; the boat lines are on Alilaguna, the taxis on water taxi Venice.
• ACTV lines 16 and 19, and the Casinò line. They sit outside the urban tariff.
• Vehicles on the car ferries. Passengers travel on the normal fare, cars and motorbikes on a separate one.

Luggage travels free up to three pieces, each up to 150 cm in combined dimensions, under the ACTV conditions of carriage; additional pieces need a luggage ticket at the passenger fare.
