Which timetable applies now

ACTV runs its water buses on seasonal timetables. The autumn timetable started on 14 September 2026 with new schedules for lines 1, 2, 2/, 7 and 14, and it applies through the autumn and winter. The other lines keep timetables that started earlier in the year, such as line 12 from 22 April 2026 and lines 3, 4.1 and 4.2 from 1 September 2026.

The tables below give the first and last boat and the daytime interval for each line. Times are for the stop where the line starts; further along the route add the journey time. The stop-by-stop detail for the three lines visitors use most is on line 1 on the Grand Canal, line 2 express and line 12 to the islands.

Four lines circle the historic centre and link it with Murano and the Lido. Each runs every 20 minutes in the daytime.

Night lines

When lines 1 and 2 stop, line N takes over. It runs from San Zaccaria via the Giudecca and Tronchetto to Piazzale Roma and the station, down the Grand Canal past Rialto and back to San Zaccaria, then on to Lido. Boats leave San Zaccaria at 23:30, 23:50, 00:10, 00:30, 01:00, 01:30, 02:30, 03:30 and 04:30; from Ferrovia the night boats leave between 00:12 and 04:42. On line N, San Giorgio is a request stop.

In the northern lagoon, line NLN connects Fondamente Nove with Murano Faro, Mazzorbo, Burano and Treporti, with departures between 23:20 and 02:57. Some of its stops are request stops: to board there, call the toll-free number 800 845 065 at least 20 minutes ahead.

What changed this autumn

  • Lines 8 and 18 are suspended since 14 September 2026.
  • Line 2 no longer runs to the Lido. The summer extension from San Marco to Lido S.M.E. is suspended; for the Lido take line 1, 5.1, 5.2 or 14.
  • Line 14 no longer stops at Lido S. Nicolò in the daytime; only a few night and early-morning boats call there on request.
  • The summer beach link on lines 5.1 and 5.2 has ended for the season.
  • Murano Da Mula is served by lines 3, 4.1 and 4.2.
  • Line 1 has one extra boat on school days, from Lido at 07:27 as far as Sant'Angelo.

For a walk through every line, its stops and what it is good for, see vaporetto lines. The landing stages with their pontoon letters are on vaporetto stations.

Reading an ACTV timetable

Three things trip up first-time readers. The letter after a stop name, such as Piazzale Roma "C" or Rialto "B", is the pontoon: big stops have several, and each line and direction uses its own. The abbreviation fer marks a boat that runs Monday to Saturday only. And a stop marked a richiesta is a request stop, where the boat only calls if someone wants to get on or off.

Fog and high water

Two things can change the timetable at short notice. In thick fog, with visibility below 150 metres, the service can change. At high tide, from about 85 cm above normal, ACTV switches to a high-water plan: from about 95 cm line 2 is split and line 3 is suspended, and at higher levels individual landings close.

Delays do not affect what you have paid for. The 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour and seven-day tickets run on time from the first validation, not on rides, so a slower boat costs nothing extra. All durations are on vaporetto tickets and passes, with the 24-hour ticket the usual choice for a single full day.
